Biography:

Shawn brings extensive design experience in a wide range of private and public land development projects. Shawn’s most prevalent project experience has been in commercial and retail design, however, he also has impressive design credentials in residential and federal government / military projects, and has significant experience in cost-sensitive sustainable design.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois
  • LEED Accredited Professional
  • Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC)
  • Member of ASCE (Chicago Chapter)-Urban Planning and Development Group

Shawn enjoys his time outside of the office (despite the CDG partners’ attempts to keep him in the office) by staying active in his community. He participates in several City of Chicago sporting leagues. As a graduate of the University of Iowa (and former Hawkeye rugby player), Shawn also enjoys watching Big Ten college sports. In the summer, Shawn can often be found at Wrigley Field cheering on the Chicago Cubs, or in the gym keeping fit. Shawn never misses his family’s annual fishing and camping trip to Minnesota each summer. Shawn also enjoys spending time with his close friends while exploring the great City of Chicago.

 

Relevent Experience:

  • Target Stores - Served in a variety of
    design roles, ranging from due diligence
    and concept planning to construction
    administration to design for over 30
    Target Remodel/Expansion projects throughout the United States.  
  • Lowe's Home Improvement Store - Served on design teams on 8 ground up Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouses throughout the Midwest.
  • Meijer Store - Provided design assistance on 4 ground up Meijer superstores in Illinois.
  • Chick-fil-A - Provided lead design services for the flagship Chicagoland Chick-fil-A restaurant.
  • Southeast Region Military Housing Privatization- Served as a designer-in-charge on this multi-faceted, multi-phased military privatization project. The project consisted of 11 naval bases in five southeastern states. It encompassed over 5,500 family homes and associated recreation and community features. This project was one of the largest public-private housing cooperations to date. Focus projects included the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston, South Carolina; the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, Mississippi; and the NAS in Pensacola, Florida.
  • Fairchild Air Force Base- Provided civil design for multiple neighborhoods at Fairchild AFB in Spokane Washington. The project consisted of redevelopment of existing neighborhoods to include 81 new family housing units, recreational center and fields.
  • U.S. Army Fort Carson - Provided civil design for a share of the 256 new family housing units at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
  • USACE Fort Leonard Wood- Prepared planning exhibits and served on the winning design build-project team who was awarded the $10 million project by the US Army Corp of Engineers - Kansas City District. The project will consist of a three mile wheeled vehicle track, three general instructional buildings, a mess hall, utility infrastructure and new hardscape areas.
